生成AIの登場で英語の相対的優位性が加速度的に高まり、日本語がますます不利になる時代に突入したのかも。
チャットGPTが出たことで翻訳者（通訳者）不要論が出ています。
そういう面も確かにあるのですが、今後は、たとえばこれまではせっかく日本語で立派な論文を書けても、またいくら英語の読解力があっても英語を書くことが不得意で世界に出られなかった人でも、チャットGPTをアシスタントとして使うことによい、見事な英語の論文を書けるようになります。これは間違いない。そしてこのことは他の外国人研究者も同じ。すると、英語論文の数が圧倒的に増加するのではないか。そして研究競争のための共通言語としての英語の優位性が一段と高まる。
するとグローバルな議論がことごとく英語でなされていく時代に突入し、英語で書かれたものをその場で英語で読む能力が求められる時代がやってくる。
その意味では楽天など公用語を英語にしているところが有利になるのかもしれないね。
