I have been using ChatGPT3.5, partly as an experiment, but it was so busy yesterday that the results were slow to be output, so I obtained my wife's permission and decided to join the paid version of ChatGPT (GPT-4).

After using it for a day (I learned today that if you apply for the opt-out function, you can prevent the input information from being learned), I will write down my impressions and what I have learned. This may be off the mark, but I would like to document my current intuitive feeling. Today, I have used it by inputting the original text and my translation and asking ChatGPT to evaluate it.
① ChatGPT (GPT-4) has a usage limit. It seems to be for maintaining processing capability. It was about 20 times every 3 hours, I think (I didn't look closely). It appears to change according to the level of congestion at the time.
② The impression is that ChatGPT (GPT-4) is significantly better at Japanese than GPT-3.5. The basis for this is indeed quite clear. However, as far as the level of evaluation from a grammatical and vocabulary standpoint, I don't feel a difference at the moment (although the original text exposed to 3.5 is limited).
③ GPT-4 seems to reflect more seriously = When GPT-4 makes a contradiction, it corrects it in one go, but 3.5 often repeats the same mistake no matter how many times it's pointed out.

④ When I let GPT3.5 check my translations, it often seems to be pandering to me. I sometimes feel like it's favoring me. When checked by GPT4, it properly points out mistakes and unnatural points with convincing reasons (as per my instructions).
⑤ Particularly for Japanese expressions, there are times when I can't help but agree with comments like "The expression '...' is somewhat weak in conveying the nuances of the original text ..." or "The meaning deviates from the original text." This is a significant difference.
⑥ CHAT GPT-4 is starting to feel like a good assistant for my translation work (it makes mistakes sometimes, but generally provides reasonably convincing answers). This may be because I'm getting better at giving instructions.

After buying ChatGPT-4 for $20 a month as a plaything without expecting much in the way of results, I now feel like I've hired a reasonably competent translation assistant at a super bargain price of $20 a month.
Currently, the instructions (prompts) to CHAT GPT, which works quite well in my translation work, are as follows:

Comment on the understanding of the English text, Japanese vocabulary, grammar, and expressions for the following translation of (the original text). If there is an alternative, show that too. "(Translated Text)"

GPT4 checks in quite detail with this and makes high convincing suggestions (up to the level of "this phrasing matches or doesn't match the nuances of the original text"). It often catches typos, but at this stage, it seems to struggle with the correct use of Japanese particles.
