A Fresh Perspective: The New Scale

"Honey, isn't there something odd about this scale?"

Having replaced our 15-year-old scale because it broke, my wife, after weighing herself several times, posed this question.

"Hmm, not sure. I did notice my body fat percentage was a bit lower..."

On the old scale, I'd usually seen 17-18%, but this new one showed 16.7%. I just assumed it was more precise.

"Exactly! My body fat percentage! It came up as 24% for me!"
"How much was it before?"
"It was 19%... and now, 24%!"
"Well, I've heard it's not uncommon for women to have close to 30%, so it's probably fine."
"You think so?"
"Considering we've just replaced our 15-year-old scale, maybe we should trust this one more??"
"Maybe you're right. But come to think of it, looking at that 19% all these years, I always worried if I was too skinny."
"Then it's a good thing, isn't it? You might be closer to the norm now. Positive spin, right?"
"Well, it's fine... Maybe the scale will eventually get used to me," she remarked with a quirky smile.

And so, we arrived at this peculiar conclusion.
