Is Paying 300,000 to 500,000 Yen for Detailed Care Worth It? (November 30, 2020)

Recently, I've noticed a surge in high-end English language schools boasting luxurious classrooms and meticulous care by Japanese coaches (perhaps because I clicked out of curiosity). These courses charge between 300,000 to 500,000 yen, with a common promise of 'delivering results' in just 2-3 months.(A)

Conversely, there are online English conversation schools advertising lessons at just 200 yen per session. For those with the motivation, this means it's possible to have daily lessons for just a few thousand yen a month. (B)

Subtracting option (B) from (A), what you’re paying extra for are the facilities, personal care, and perhaps a sense of luxury. This 'care cost' is particularly significant.

It's much like dieting, where 'what anyone can do for a day becomes challenging to sustain alone for months.' We’re now in an era where individuals are willing to spend 300,000 to 500,000 yen to get support in that aspect.
